wine bottle with grapes and glass

‍‍‍Welcome to my blog and thanks for having a read through. Here you will be able to enjoy our latest musings on Wine, occasionally a beer, Hotels or Resorts and from time to time some random thoughts on ...well, just life in general; Each month will be different; one month I may shed some light on a Resort, or Hotel recently visited, another month share a few cents cents on a terrific wine (I may have sampled...extensively), beer or spirit that I have tried, and  to liven things up a bit further, every couple of months or so we will feature a guest blogger with their own shine on things. It could be a hotelier or meeting professional opining, but whomever it is, it will be a friend with the intention of turning a light on about somewhere or something really cool. This blog is written with the intent of having a bit of fun, sharing a nugget or two you may not have known and most importantly bringing you a smile, or maybe even a good laugh.

Enjoy!

Hotels speak to me, not literally and weirdly like Mr. Ed to Wilbur but in a subtle, emotional way. Generally I hear, or perhaps more accurately feel them, as soon as I enter the lobby, sometimes as early as the drive up to the porte-cochère. Recently I had the good fortune to re-visit The Greenbrier, and boy did it speak to me. It had been many years since my last stay and although T‍‍‍he Greenbrier has had a great many additions and improvements over that time, the resorts voice and essence had not changed, "Welcome back, we've been expecting you". Be it your first or 50th visit, the sincerity, charm and grace of the staff and the hotel could not be more real, and less pretentious.

Inside is an explosion of color! Each room and hallway trumpeting the collective Interior Design genius of Dorothy Draper and Carlton Varney...

As far as what to do during your stay...the opportunities are nearly endless. There are over 55 sanctioned activities and events taking place each day, from golf on one of T‍‍‍he Greenbrier's five courses to Tennis, Falconry, Fishing, Bowling, "The Bunker", an on property private Casino...and the list goes on and on, there is something for everyone.

If you happen to be thinking about placing a meeting at Th‍‍‍e Greenbrier, you are in luck, with over 130,000 Square feet of meeting space they can accommodate groups from 10-1000 with ease, and with the recent addition of direct flights from NYC, Washington DC and Chicago, access has never been easier.

Really simply said, it was wonderful to be back at The Greenbrier and hear its voice again, it's a special place and I cannot wait to get back, as I'm sure they will be, "expecting me" and I love that.

The Greenbrier's 11,000 acres are nestled amid the grandeur of Allegheny Mountains in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and offer some of the most spectacular grounds you will ever see. Pristine, no matter where you look, with not a blade of grass out of place...and that's just the outside.
