Welcome to my blog and thanks for having a read through. Here you will be able to enjoy our latest musings on Wine, occasionally a beer, Hotels or Resorts and from time to time some random thoughts on ...well, just life in general; Each month will be different; one month I may shed some light on a Resort, or Hotel recently visited, another month share a few cents cents on a terrific wine (I may have sampled...extensively), beer or spirit that I have tried, and  to liven things up a bit further, every couple of months or so we will feature a guest blogger with their own shine on things. It could be a hotelier or meeting professional opining, but whomever it is, it will be a friend with the intention of turning a light on about somewhere or something really cool. This blog is written with the intent of having a bit of fun, sharing a nugget or two you may not have known and most importantly bringing you a smile, or maybe even a good laugh.

"A" favorite?

What is your favorite hotel? I cannot tell you how many times I've been asked that question over the last 35 years and my answer is always the same..."it's situational". I know, que the yawn... so non committal, but it really is situational. If I want the action of a city the answer may be Le Meurice or the New York Plaza. If I want a Golf resort, it could be Pebble Beach or the Sanctuary, want the Beach, maybe the One and Only or The Breakers, want the airport...well nobody really "wants" the Airport...but you get my point?

That being said, there are a handful of truly special places that, whenever we have the chance or can make a good enough excuse... we go. The Cloister at Sea Island Georgia is one of those places!

That is pretty much SOP with any Five Star/ Five Diamond Resort, but the Cloister is different...it separates itself. It could be the genuine feeling of welcome you receive from every staff member, Bell stand to the Front Desk, Housekeeper to Bartender and every other employee you speak with right on to the seemingly endless team of grounds keepers. It could be the five miles of white sandy beach out the back door, the three golf courses or the 65,000 sq.ft. Spa. It could be the countless activities from shooting to sailing, from to kayaking to paddle boarding or Yoga and everything in between that lies at your fingertips.

Or maybe, just maybe, it somehow transports you to a more gracious, more charming time when your mobile device is not your singular focus and you can take the time, those precious minutes, to enjoy a Cloister special Manhattan while watching the sunset over the ocean and breathing in that sweet southern air. I really cannot say, to me, it's all of those things and much, much more.

The Cloister at Sea Island is nothing short of magical, and if you have not been there I urge you to go, it's a game changer. Whether for a meeting (which they do flawlessly) or on vacation, make a point to visit, you will  wind up with "A" favorite, promise.

The minute you roll over the bridge to Sea Island, Georgia, something changes. It's really subtle at first...you see the marsh grass and live oaks, the gentle curve of the river and the complete lack of traffic.
